0 Programs with Andy Young

With tremendous compassion, over his sixteen years of trial work, Andy has helped many innocent crash victims and their families receive the compensation that they need and deserve for the wrongs done to them. He has resolved countless cases favorably for his clients. Most lawyers are scared of the courtroom. Not Andy. He loves being on stage in front of a jury convincing them that his client deserves fair treatment. His passion yields results. In late 2014, for example, he won a $34.6 million jury verdict in a truck accident case for his client. This verdict was one of the largest personal injury verdicts in Ohio history.

Not only is Andy’s work centered around helping truck accident victims, trucking safety is a huge part of his non-litigation life. For the purpose of analyzing and promoting trucking safety issues, Andy owns a classic 1985 Peterbilt 359 truck and car trailer and he has a Class A commercial driver’s license allowing him to drive tractor-trailer combinations. Because of his truck driving experience, he investigates operational and safety issues and asks questions of trucking company safety directors and drivers that ordinary lawyers would be unlikely to consider. In trucking cases, having this knowledge gives him an edge that can make the difference between winning and losing.

Andy has published articles on trucking safety in various publications, including the Journal of Trucking Litigation and CATA News. He runs an active Twitter site about safe driving, and he has testified before the Ohio Senate Transportation Committee. In addition, Andy moderated the 2016 Truck Underride Roundtable at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in Virginia, and he has spoken to groups of lawyers about truck accidents in Canada, Minnesota, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Ohio, California, Florida, and Nevada. He is the former Chairman of the Trucking Safety Section of the Ohio Association for Justice.

Volunteer Today!

The South Carolina Association for Justice (SCAJ) was founded over 50 years ago by a small group of trial lawyers. Since then, our mission has been to serve our members and those we are sworn to protect.  We work to uphold and defend the constitutions of our state and nation. We fight tirelessly to protect the rights of the individual; to seek justice through open and fair courtrooms; to resist unjust laws; to support policies that hold wrongdoers accountable; to strengthen the civil justice system through education; and to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity in the legal profession.
