Payment for Potholes

In an effort to help the drivers of South Carolina that have been saddled with blown tires and damage to their vehicles simply by South Carolina’s crumbling infrastructure, the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors has started a pro-bono campaign called “Payments for Potholes”.  As trial lawyers, we are leaders of our communities. As an association, we fight tirelessly to protect the rights of the individual, including property rights. We felt this safety issue was too important to ignore, so we are lending our expertise to those impacted by the current roads crisis.

If you feel like your vehicle has been damaged by potholes and crumbling roads, please fill out this form and we will connect you with SCAJ member attorneys who can offer information on the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s (SCDOT) damage claims process.

Disclaimer: This offer to provide free legal services is limited to claims against SCDOT for property damages to vehicles as a result of road defects.  This is not an offer of free legal representation against any other responsible parties or for claims of damage other than damage to vehicles. Although this service is pro-bono, you may wish to consult your lawyer or another lawyer instead of me (us). You may obtain information about other lawyers by consulting directories, seeking the advice of others, or calling the South Carolina Bar Lawyer Referral Service at 799-7100 in Columbia or toll free at 1-800-868-2284. If you have already engaged a lawyer in connection with the legal matter referred to in this communication, you should direct any questions you have to that lawyer. The exact nature of your legal situation will depend on many facts not known to me (us) at this time. You should understand that the advice and information in this communication is general and that your own situation may vary.

The South Carolina Association for Justice (SCAJ) was founded over 50 years ago by a small group of trial lawyers. Since then, our mission has been to serve our members and those we are sworn to protect.  We work to uphold and defend the constitutions of our state and nation. We fight tirelessly to protect the rights of the individual; to seek justice through open and fair courtrooms; to resist unjust laws; to support policies that hold wrongdoers accountable; to strengthen the civil justice system through education; and to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity in the legal profession.
